Dr. F. Dow Bates
Graduated from Northwestern College of Chiropractic – now Northwestern Health Sciences University and served as a trustee for 9 years.
Dr. Bates has taken many post-graduate classes and seminars on patient examination, diagnosis, and management. This includes many extensive courses in Chiropractic Orthopedics and Radiology.
Dr. Bates has received recognition locally and nationally as well as received many awards from his profession. He recently received the “Monte Greenawalt Life Time Achievement Award” at the 2014 Iowa Chiropractic Society Annual Convention.
His personal philosophy is “To enjoy the campsite and leave it better than I found it.”

Dr. Lisa R. Bates
Dr. Lisa Bates followed in the tradition of her family’s work as healers. Raised in the chiropractic lifestyle with organic food, supplements and regular weekly adjustments she healed easily through the injuries that she sustained. She believes this optimum health is something everyone deserves and strives to aid her patients in reaching this goal.
As a native of Des Moines, Dr. Bates danced with both the Des Moines ballet and the Iowa Dance Theatre and spent her free time down hill skiing. She facilitates her unique rehab methods, combining her personal training in ballet, yoga and Pilates to enhance the biomechanics and elegance of the human body.
Dr. Bates graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College. Her postgraduate training and continuing education has been in neurology, neurophysiology, brain function, brain chemistry, biology, genetics, aging, and longevity.
Dr. Bates has advanced training in extremity adjusting which is the treatment and rehabilitation of the joints in the feet, knees, hips, wrists, elbows, shoulders, and TMJ. Her treatments comprise of manual adjusting, neuromuscular reeducation, rehabilitation and specific nutritional recommendations to optimize the health and wellness of her patients.
After being in practice for ten years, one of the most important lessons Dr. Lisa has learned from her father, Dr. F. Dow Bates, is “If you listen to your patients they will tell you what is wrong”. She employs this principle in her practice daily by taking the time to invest in each patient.
